ELIGIBILITY for MENSA scholarships:

 The only eligibility requirement is that the applicant be enrolled, for the academic year following the award, in a degree program in an accredited American Institute of post-secondary education.  For the general awards, the applicant need not be a member of Mensa nor qualified for Mensa, and the general awards are unrestricted as to age, race, gender, level of post-secondary education and financial need. CONDITIONS of awards: Awards will be made on the basis of an essay of fewer than 550 words, which describes the applicant's career, vocational, or academic goal toward which the scholarship is to provide aid. Entries will be judged and awarded at three levels: local, regional and national.  Awards are made in amounts ranging from $300 to $1000. To apply for a scholarship and submit your essay via the Internet, please visit www.mensafoundation.org/scholarships. www.us.mensa.org

Hy-Vee will award eighty (80) $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors working for Hy-Vee or a subsidiary. Applications and information is available in the guidance office or at www.hy-vee.com under company information.

The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) at Iowa State University has an online scholarship application called FinAidScholar.  The FinAidScholarapplication is a single application for all scholarships administered through the OSFA.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Here are the steps that your students need to complete to be considered for OSFA awards:

  1. Go to the scholarship section of ISU’s Financial Aid Website (www.financialaid.iastate.edu)
  2. Select the Office of Student Financial Aid Scholarships (FinAidScholar) button
  3. Select “Freshman”
  4. Read the directions
  5. Register for a Net-ID (Directions included on website)
  6. Click on “Apply on our FinAidScholar Website”!
  7. Log in with your Net-ID
  8. Select the Freshman Application
  9. Click on “Click Here to Apply!”
  10. Complete the application by 1 March
  11. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to 1 March

The first time a student/family is able to complete the FAFSA application is 1 January of the student’s senior year.

This application is ONLY for scholarships administered through The Office of Student Financial Aid.  Please be sure to let your students know that they will need to check with Admission, their college and/or department, and private donors to maximize their scholarship search.
