The Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) is proud to support the Health Care Careers Scholarship program. Available through the Iowa Hospital Education and Research Foundation (IHERF), an IHA subsidiary, these scholarships of up to $7,000 ($3,500 per year for a maximum of two years) each have supported higher education for more than 300 Iowa college students.

The ultimate goal of this program is to fill Iowa health care positions that currently have a notable number of openings by offering significant financial support to students seeking health care education. In exchange for that financial support, each award recipient must commit to working one year in an Iowa hospital for each year of scholarship award.

Placement opportunities will be identified for each IHA geographic district (a map is included with the application).  Scholarship applications will be scored and awards made based on each applicant’s qualifications.  All portions of the application form must be submitted by March 30, 2018.

IHA would appreciate your support and promotion of this scholarship to students interested in a health care career.  Please share the enclosed information and encourage them to apply.

To assist with promotion, click here to access a printable 8.5 x 11 poster with a quick reference (QR) code so interested students can use their cell phones to connect to the scholarship website for more information.

All applications will be submitted online at the IHERF scholarship website www.iowahospitalscholarships.org which will help students confirm their eligibility before beginning the application process.  This will allow for electronic submission of their application, college program verification and references.

Scholarship application deadline is March 30, 2018 and recipients will be announced after May 1.

We are currently taking applications for our higher education scholarships. We have been offering scholarships for over 40 years and due to our fundraising efforts, we are excited to be able to award four $1,000 scholarships to four young women selected from the area this year. This is an increase of one additional scholarship from past years.

Each applicant needs to complete the attached form and note any financial needs that may impact their college goals, include a personal statement and a resume of activities, and 3 letters of reference as outlined in the attached information. Please share this with interested students.
Our deadline for submission is Friday, March 30, 2018, 5:00 p.m. All applications must be received by this date. No exceptions.
Applications may be submitted via email, dropped off in person or mailed to my address as noted on the application form.
Please note that historically we have not had more than one individual from a specific school receive a scholarship.
Chosen scholarship recipients will be informed of their selection by April 30. We will notify you as well. If one of the recipients is from your school, we would like to attend your senior awards assembly to present a certificate to that young woman.

High school juniors are eligible to apply for the Hill's Bank Leadership Grant. Each grant is for $1,000 and is available to students that will attend any Iowa college, community college or university. 20 grants in total will be awarded. For more information you may stop in the guidance office or visit HillsBank.com/leadershipGrant.
