Dear Clippers,

I hope this letter finds you all well and you’re enjoying the summer months.  Construction at high school is wrapping up and we are very excited to get into our new space.  The start of the school year is right around the corner.  Here is some important information and dates to note.   

School Supplies:  We ask that students come with some writing utensils, notebooks and folders.  If there are additional materials needed, teachers will share that information and allow ample time for purchases. 

Monday, August 7th from 10:00-6:00:  Walk-in registration.  This can be accomplished online, but if you would like additional guidance you are welcome to come into the high school for assistance. 

Monday, August 21st from 6:00-7:00:  New Student/New Parent Night.  All incoming 9th graders and new students, along with parents, are invited that evening for an overview of high school procedures and some Question & Answer time.  Students will have the opportunity to walk their class schedule and find their classrooms.

Wednesday, August 23rd:  First day of school.  Wednesday and Thursday that week will BOTH be early dismissals.

Thursday, September 7th:  Back to School Night 5:30-7:30.  Parents will have the opportunity to come in and walk through their student’s schedule and meet all their teachers.  The purpose of this evening is to allow parents to put a face with a name and for the teachers to give a brief overview of the class content. 

Chromebooks:  Students needing a Chromebook will be issued one during the school day the first week of school.  In order to receive their Chromebook, students MUST turn in a signed Technology Use Agreement Form at the time they are issued a device.  This form is also included as an attachment to this email. 

CLOSED Campus:  A reminder that our campus is closed.  Once a student arrives for classes, they are expected to remain on campus until the conclusion of their day.  Students are not allowed to leave for lunch, unless a parent picks him/her up.

iReady Testing:  The high school will continue with iReady testing.  We use this data as part of our intervention time and as our second required state assessment.  Our first round of testing will occur the week of August 28th

Scheduling Issues:
Mr. Hovey will be in on August 7th, 8th and 9th if students have class scheduling issues to resolve.  We encourage students to take care of this before the first day of school. 

Get involved!!:  We encourage all our students to get involved in some type of extracurricular activity.  It is a proven fact that students who are connected to school in some way outside of classes experience higher academic success.
