Bad Weather - The Amana Library will close during bad weather. Please call ahead to make sure we are open. If school has a late start the library will open at 10:00. If school is closing early, the library will also close at that time. If school is cancelled, the library will be closed for the day. The library will follow the same schedule as the school during bad weather. When weather is not safe to travel, please call the library at 622-3192 to make sure we are open before heading out. Big G Receipts: We are excited to inform you that we are participating in an incredible program that allows us to earn FREE school equipment. From September 1, 2016 – March 31, 2017 we will be able to turn cash register receipts from Big G Foods, Marengo into valuable and important educational equipment free of charge that we otherwise would only dream of getting. Please shop at Big G Foods in Marengo and save your receipts dated September 1, 2016 – March 31, 2017 and send them to school with your child.

Box Tops for Education – Clip ‘Em and Turn ‘Em in! Clip Box Top coupons from products such as General Mills, Hefty, Kleenex, Pillsbury, Ziploc, Cheerios, and Juicy Juice. Each Box Top is worth .10 cents

Labels for Education discontinued this program. There are no longer labels to save. 

Pop Tabs – The Amana Library collects the tabs you pull to open soda, soup or other aluminum cans. They are taken to the Ronald McDonald House. The tab of a standard soda can is made of high quality, high-grade aluminum. They get from 23 to 52 cents per pound. Help by saving tabs for this great program.

Used Book Sale - The Amana Library has an ongoing book sale in their periodical room. There are a wide variety of books including cookbooks, fiction, non-fiction, DVDS, and Children’s books. Many great authors include James Patterson, Sandra Brown, John Grisham, and David Baldacci. Stop by during library hours to browse through the book sale.

Used Books – The Amana Library is accepting used books for the Used Book Sale. If you have books you wish to donate, please bring them to the library. We also accept DVDS, current magazines, children’s books and cookbooks.

Toners, Ink Cartridges, Laptops & Cell Phones –Recycle your toners, ink cartridges, used laptops and cell phones. The library receives a monomial fee for recycling these items. Please help keep these out of our landfills.

Blood Drive - The Amana Library will host a Community Blood Drive on Monday, February 13 from 2:30 to 5:30 at 3023 220th Trail – Amana Elementary parking lot, inside the MVRBC bus. Potential donors must be at least 17, weigh more than 110 pounds, and possess a photo I. D. to donate. To register, please call MVRBC at 800-747-5401.

Book Club - Amana Library Book Discussion meeting is Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 9:00 A.M. at Amana Library. The book being discussed is Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman. If interested, call 622-3192 or stop by for a book. Everyone is welcome!

Policies for checking out library materials:

  • Students may check out 1,2, or 3 items when their class comes to the library.
  • Students may have up to six items checked out at one time.
  • Students may not check out anything new (or renew another item) if they have something that is overdue.

These policies are designed to help students return books on time so that the books are not lost. The library staff appreciates everyone’s efforts in getting materials returned to the library on time.

Also, please remember that all videos and DVD’s should be returned directly to the library drop-box or desk and not to the classroom.

New to the Amana Library...our Follett Shelf is up and running! Follett Shelf is a website where you can check out and read online books. There is a good selection for all ages and a total of 60 books. Before going onto to the website, please call us at the Amana Library (622-3192) for your username and password.
